Unidos en Red expresses its appreciation to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for expanding its Emergency Credit Line, a measure that will allow Jamaica to respond more quickly and effectively to the impacts of Hurricane Melissa.
Thanks to this decision, the IDB will be able to make up to US$300 million available to the Jamaican government to address urgent needs such as humanitarian assistance, restoration of basic services, and immediate recovery actions.
The IDB also announced additional resources, including:
- Emergency technical cooperation of US$500,000 to cover humanitarian needs.
- Immediate response facilities for rehabilitation projects of up to US$20 million.
- Restructuring of existing projects to accelerate recovery.
