The ONCE Foundation is committed to accessible videogames as a tool to improve the digital skills of the student bodyThe ONCE Foundation participated in a teacher training session organized by the Department of Education of the Region of Murcia where it opted for videogames as a tool to improve skills student digital.

At the meeting, held at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Murcia, Cristian Suárez, an accessible video game technician from the ONCE Foundation, was in charge of publicizing the ‘Ga11y’ project, the entity’s initiative to make video games accessible .

In his intervention before the teachers, Suárez explained the lines of work that are currently being developed within the initiative and how video games can be a great tool for improving the digital and educational skills of young people.

The conference, entitled ‘Teaching digital competence and personalized learning. Breaking down barriers of access, presence, participation and learning of all students’, aims to reflect on the application of digital technologies in intercultural contexts and educational, social and personal diversity that allow the development of digital teaching competence from an inclusive perspective, guaranteeing personalized learning for students.

With the project ‘Ga11y: accessible videogames’, the ONCE Foundation wants to promote the inclusion of accessibility parameters in this important economic and leisure sector, so that everyone can enjoy videogames.

As the axis of the project, Fundación ONCE has developed the website www.ga11y.fundaciononce.es, which includes several sections such as news with current events on the accessibility of videogames, events, peripherals and a catalog with a search option parameterizable according to the profile and type of disability.
