Ayuda en Acción held the discussion “Challenges and Opportunities for the Competitiveness of Cocoa Farming in the Department of Cauca”

Within the framework of the CACAO FEST 2024 held in Popayán, Cauca, Ayuda en Acción held the discussion “Challenges and Opportunities for the Competitiveness of Cocoa Growing in the Department of Cauca.” This event brought together experts from the sector to discuss the structural challenges and emerging opportunities that could position Cauca cocoa in the global market.

Cocoa in Cauca is a vitally important agricultural sector, not only for its economic contribution, but also for its potential to promote social cohesion and sustainable development in a region historically affected by armed conflict.

Despite its importance, cocoa growing in Cauca faces significant challenges that limit its competitiveness in the international market. During the CACAO FEST 2024, Ayuda en Acción led a discussion to address these challenges and explore the opportunities that could transform the sector.

Competitiveness and sustainability of Cauca cocoa

Ana Fernanda Muñoz Otoya, Executive President of the Cauca Chamber of Commerce, stressed the need to improve the quality of cocoa to increase its competitiveness in international markets. Muñoz stressed: “Cauca cocoa has extraordinary potential, but its success will depend on our ability to raise quality standards and strengthen alliances between key players in the sector.”
