The University of Granada will host the 7th International Congress on University and Disability, organized by Fundación ONCE under the theme “Trends and Challenges for an Inclusive University.” The event will bring together more than 400 participants and international experts to discuss inclusive education, artificial intelligence, innovative methodologies, and strategies to improve the employability of people with disabilities.
For the first time, the congress has the support of Fondo Social Europeo Plus and Inserta Empleo, and will provide a space for students to share their vision regarding access to the labor market. Isabel Martínez Lozano, director of Universidades at Fundación ONCE, emphasized that the goal is to break paradigms and demonstrate that people with disabilities can hold qualified and responsible positions.
In addition, the biennial study on inclusion in higher education, prepared by Fundación Universia and CRUE, will be presented, revealing a historic increase: students with disabilities now represent 1.9% of the total in Spain. The congress aims to move towards more equitable university models, aligned with the SDGs, the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the new social contract for education proposed by UNESCO.
