CAF and IDU promote improvements in civil works planning in Bogotá

Within the framework of the XXII National Infrastructure Congress, taking place in Cartagena, a strategic alliance was established between the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) and the Urban Development Institute (IDU). This agreement aims to improve the structuring of infrastructure projects for mobility and public spaces in Bogotá, with the goal of optimizing the planning and execution of civil works carried out by the Institute.

The agreement, which has resources amounting to USD 562,000, aims to strengthen the IDU institutionally through technical cooperation that will directly impact project planning. During the event, the director of the IDU, Orlando Molano, highlighted the importance of this initiative by recalling that when they took office in 2024 and conducted the first assessment, they identified that improving the processes for structuring infrastructure projects for mobility, where budgets, timelines, and coordination schemes are defined, is key to positively changing the planning of civil works in the capital.

This agreement, which will last for a year and a half, is established as a milestone to fulfill the commitment of Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán’s administration to strengthen the IDU institutionally. The alliance also includes the identification of new inter-institutional work schemes and the proposal of improvements in feasibility studies, designs, and management models, thereby consolidating a comprehensive strategy to transform the way civil works are planned and executed in Bogotá.
