Carlos Slim Foundation offers a free course to learn first aid and respond to medical emergencies

The Carlos Slim Foundation, through its educational platform Aprende.org, extends an invitation to participate in the free course “Introduction to First Responder,” designed to teach how to act in a medical emergency and provide first aid safely and effectively. This course aims to train First Responders capable of identifying emergencies and applying appropriate protocols to preserve life, avoiding mistakes that could compromise the well-being of the affected person and those around them.

The program, available in the Health section of Aprende.org, offers practical and accessible content that allows participants to acquire essential skills, such as assessing the safety of the scene before intervening, using personal protective equipment to prevent infections, activating the emergency medical system to request specialized help, evaluating the victim’s level of alertness, conducting a primary assessment to determine if they are stable or unstable, providing basic life support to clear the airway and treat cardiorespiratory arrest in infants, children, and adults, as well as offering first aid for injuries, poisoning, intoxications, and medical or environmental emergencies.

The course consists of four levels divided into several lessons, delivered through infographics, videos, and practical activities, and is aimed at the general public. To enroll, simply go to Aprende.org, the platform created by the Carlos Slim Foundation that offers world-class educational content in areas such as biodiversity, culture, education, job training, and health.
