The Ibero-American Business Alliance Council (CEAPI) held a meeting with Uruguay’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Gabriel Oddone, who presented the government’s priorities to promote the country’s development.
Oddone highlighted three key objectives: accelerating economic growth, strengthening social policy, and increasing the security budget. The minister emphasized that Uruguay enjoys broad support, having achieved the largest debt issuance in its history, with a placement of 1.85 billion dollars at a nominal rate of 8%.
During the event, Oddone discussed Uruguay’s role in Mercosur, stating that the country “participates in the bloc from a higher perspective than I had imagined,” and pointed out the importance of maintaining stability and credibility to attract investment. For his part, Jordi Gutiérrez, CEAPI’s director, stressed “the management of dissent” as a key factor for Uruguayan institutional strength.
