Twenty years after its founding, the Gloria Kriete Foundation has every reason to celebrate. In an interview on the television program Frente a Frente, the Foundation’s leadership shared the results of two decades of work: more than USD 75 million invested in nearly 400 projects that have reached over 3 million Salvadorans. Behind each of these figures are stronger communities and young people empowered with new opportunities for the future.
Its work is built around three major initiatives. Ayudando a Quienes Ayudan provides funding for community-based organizations, offering grants ranging from USD 5,000 to USD 15,000 for projects related to clean water, healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Established NGOs can access grants of up to USD 100,000. Programa Oportunidades supports high-potential young people from limited-resource backgrounds over a period of five to eight years through training in English, robotics, and programming, university scholarships, and job placement services. To date, more than 5,000 young people have participated in the program, and over 1,000 are already employed. Complementing these initiatives is Tu Chance, a digital platform with more than 42,000 active users, where individuals can find scholarships, courses, and employment opportunities.
The Foundation is also recognized for its rigorous commitment to accountability. Each project is monitored through multiple stages, including supervision visits and five-year impact evaluations, while funds are disbursed according to the achievement of agreed milestones. Guided by this same spirit, the Foundation recently launched the Circle of Generosity (Círculo de Generosidad), a digital platform that enables anyone, whether in El Salvador or abroad, to select verified projects and contribute through donations starting at just one dollar.
