Banesco held its fifth call in Panama for the Participatory Budget

For the first time with national coverage, including regional areas, making a call to all community-based organizations in the 10 provinces and 7 indigenous regions of the country Participatory Budget Banesco made its fifth call in Panama, for the first time with national coverage, including regional areas , making a call to all community-based organizations in the 10 provinces and 7 indigenous regions of the country.

In this way, it was possible to reach more than 100 applications from organizations, of which 56 were validated on site, and finally 24 were selected to participate in the training process and presentation of their initiatives where they will be able to win the necessary funds for their execution.

Participatory Budget has become a flagship program of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Banesco Panama, where the bank has invested $290,000.00 dollars in the last four years that have achieved the following results:

10,215 direct beneficiaries
191,271 indirect beneficiaries
$28.38 of social investment per capita In 2022 there was a budget of $100,000.00 dollars for the allocation of non-reimbursable funds to organizations that propose concrete, achievable and measurable solutions to the needs, in the five categories: health and/or nutrition, environment , social inclusion, education and, finally, culture and sport. The training stage for the 24 selected organizations began in July, closing on August 6 with the General Assembly, to meet the winners of each category.
Voting was carried out in a hybrid manner as follows: the general public voted for their preferred organizations digitally on the Banesco website from July 25 to August 3, the technical jury, made up of Dayanara Salazar, Coordinator of Programs for Panama of the Regional Office of UN Women for the Americas and the Caribbean; Bruno Bacile Executive Director of SUMARSE; Edy Vásquez, renowned TVN Panama announcer and Alfonso Prieto, Executive President and General Manager of Banesco Panama; and the participating organizations cast their vote in person and anonymously at the General Assembly.

Environment Category: Green Alliance Foundation for Panama
Education Category: La Vid Educational Center
Culture and Sports Category: Universal Youth Force
Health and Nutrition Category: Nuevo Emperador Community Health Committee
Social Inclusion Category: Recycling Errors
