Unidos en Red congratulates the IDB for receiving the 2025 International Knowledge Management Award

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has been awarded the 2025 International Knowledge Management Award, presented by Knowledge Management Austria and the global network Knowledge for Development Partnership (K4DP). This recognition highlights the IDB’s role as a global benchmark in integrating knowledge, evidence, and learning to promote sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Since its founding 66 years ago, the IDB has embraced a mandate that goes beyond financing: generating and sharing knowledge to strengthen public policies and improve development outcomes. This vision was solidified in 2024 with the approval of the Institutional Strategy 2024–2030: Transforming to Achieve Greater Impact and Scale, which places knowledge management at the center of institutional effectiveness.

The IDB’s approach prioritizes the practical application of evidence in decision-making, project design, and investment monitoring. Through its Knowledge Cycle, the Bank connects analysis, data, and operations, creating a feedback system that transforms experience into learning for future projects.

To strengthen this dynamic, the IDB has implemented mechanisms such as the Knowledge Advisory Committee (KAC), which aligns sector agendas with strategic priorities and promotes the quality and impact of knowledge products. In addition, it has developed an innovative digital ecosystem, with tools such as the IDB Group Knowledge Platform, AI-based solutions, and the renewed Open Data Catalog, which reinforce transparency and access to knowledge.

Internal initiatives like Knowledge Days, the Knowledge Excellence Award, and Development Superheroes promote a learning culture and recognize those who apply knowledge to improve outcomes.
